An official announcement will be made in early 2010 concerning congressional approval of a boundary adjustment adding approximately 111 acres of chaparral habitat along the west side of Hwy. 25 at the eastern entrance to Pinnacles national Monument.

The Jefferson School District of San Benito County owns the Bear Valley School. Pinnacles National Monument will acquire (from Jefferson School District) the old Bear Valley School (hopefully by spring, 2010) and will begin restoration of the bell tower soon thereafter. The "Friends of Bear Valley School" look forward to working with the National Park Service, and with the Pinnacles Partnership, in the restoration of this historic structure. It is exciting that this historic building, that was a part of so many lives in the community throughout the history of Bear Valley, will be restored and can continue to be used into the future.
